On 18 October 2018, Olafur Eliasson was invited to Hönnunarsafn Íslands – the Museum of Design and Applied Art of Iceland – to deliver a talk on his longtime friend and collaborator Einar Thorsteinn Ásgeirsson (1942–2015). During his lengthy career, Einar followed in the footsteps of Buckminster Fuller and worked with Frei Otto, leaving a lasting impact on creative practices today.
Alongside the Museum’s exhibition ‘Behind the Scenes with Einar Thorsteinn’, which exhibits the contents of Einar’s archive, Olafur shares his personal and professional reflections on Einar’s legacy as a beloved Icelandic architect and thinker.
