Eliasson talks about the artwork ‘Reality projector’, 2018, as part of the University of Southern California’s ‘Voices & Visions‘ series. ‘Reality projector’ was conceived in response to the architecture of the Marciano Art Foundation, which occupies a converted Masonic temple in Los Angeles. By inserting coloured gels into the building’s exposed girders and projecting light through these from powerful spotlights moving parallel to them, Eliasson transformed the vast exhibition space – formerly a Masonic theatre – into an experimental set-up that generated an immersive abstract film.
